Melbourne Cup wins the hearts of Sydneysiders

The Melbourne Cup Carnival is undoubtedly the highlight of the racing year in Australia, bringing together the very best Australian and International thoroughbreds and celebrities for four-days of world-class horse racing action. The crown jewel of the Carnival is Australia's most famous race, the Melbourne Cup. Since Sydneysiders can’t enjoy the same Public Holiday benefits as Melburnians, on Tuesday November 1st we threw Melbourne Cup celebrations in some of our NSW buildings.
Darling Park

The Darling Park lobby was a flourish of fascinators, champagne and shimmering golden horseshoes. There was an incredible turnout, with hundreds of tenants abandoning their desks in droves to catch all the action from the race that truly doe stop the nation! Congregating in the Gallery and Star Court, everyone was absolutely dressed to the nines, reflecting all the glitz, glamour and celebrity fervour that the Flemington Racecourse heralds. We even brought out the paparazzi to complete this races royalty atmosphere!

Gateway

The Gateway community similarly harnessed their Carnival spirit and celebrated the Melbourne Cup in a classy event held in the building foyer. Tenants were treated to a sumptuous feast of André Clouet Champagne, freshly-shucked oysters, cheese platters, fruits and more. Competitions rewarding the best hat/fascinator and the best socks were also held, with the winners each receiving a bottle of André Clouet Champagne valued at $80, courtesy of the neighbouring Australian Wine Centre. Around 100 people watched the Cup, witnessing the ups and downs of the race, including the climactic neck-and-neck finish. Almandin, quite literally a dark horse in the race, proved his mettle and took out first place, to the delight and dismay alike of the Gateway community.
